In Case of Emergency

EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS

Bowen Island could face a disaster at any time and it never hurts to be prepared.

Please make sure you have everything your need for your companion(s) in ”go” bag(s), as well as a carrier if your companion is small.

Some suggestions:
•Food and water for 3 days (or more)

. A can opener and scoop if using cans
•Leash or harness
•Medications and first aid supplies

. Medical records showing vaccinations

. Poop bags and disinfectant for dogs

. Portable litter pan and litter for cats
•Photos of animal(s) in case they get lost

. Collapsible food and water bowls

. A piece of clothing with your scent on it

. Toys to keep them entertained and stress free

Make sure you familiarize yourself with the evacuation plan for your neighbourhood, including the plan for your animals. Once you have created your "go" bag you will have to keep it current and ensure food is still good.

Please make sure you have a sticker on your door  detailing how many animals you have that may need to be rescued. Hopefully you never have to use it but being prepared is always best !
